From business objectives to the media plan

How digital marketing helps your FMCG brand grow

We start with your brand’s objectives, category and product availability. Then we select the advertising channels and formats.

01

Launching a brand or product

We plan advertising around your launch: audience, message and campaign timing. Media activity aligns with the product reaching retail shelves.

02

Brand awareness and consideration

We plan reach and frequency to help buyers remember your brand and consider it when choosing what to buy.

03

Reaching new buyers

We identify promising audiences and new purchase occasions. We test which messages and creative attract their attention.

04

Promotions and seasonal campaigns

We align media activity with seasonal demand, promotions and retailers’ offers. We decide when and where to increase advertising support.

05

Supporting retail sales

We target regions and sales channels where people can find your products. We account for your range and stock availability.

06

Making informed budget decisions

We define each channel’s role and performance measures. Campaign results inform where to invest in the next campaign wave.

Integrated FMCG marketing

Strategy, media and creative for food and non-food brands

We account for how people choose and buy products in each category. That informs the messages, channels and campaign plan.

01

Food brands: purchase occasions

We consider when and why people buy the product, and how seasonality and assortment influence their choice. We agree which products and messages to promote in each campaign wave.

02

Non-food brands: benefits and trust

We show the product’s benefits and how to use it. We consider repeat purchase cycles and promotions, choosing messages that reflect your brand positioning.

Services for your brand

Digital marketing strategy

We develop a 12–24 month plan covering objectives, audiences, channels, budget and KPIs. We use it to plan campaigns and update the strategy as results emerge.

UAMASTER clients receive research into key brand measures at no separate charge. We agree the methodology, sample, measures and research stages in advance. Research through an advertising platform depends on its requirements and tool availability.

Media, brand and business outcomes

How we measure FMCG advertising effectiveness

We agree KPIs and data sources before launch. Reporting helps your CMO assess results and decide how to allocate the next campaign’s budget.

01 · Media

Quality of audience contact

Reach, frequency, ad viewability, video views and cost of reaching the audience.

What we assess: whether the campaign reaches the right audience, and which channels and creative work best.

02 · Brand

Changes in brand perceptions

Awareness, ad recall, attitudes towards the brand and purchase intent, using an agreed methodology.

What we assess: whether buyers know the brand better and are more willing to choose it.

03 · Business

Retail and online sales

Sales to end buyers (sell-out): changes by SKU, region and retailer, where the data is available.

What we assess: how sales change during the campaign and what contribution from advertising the data can support.

Accounting for other influences on sales

Price, promotions, seasonality and product availability also influence sales. We account for them in our analysis. Where data is sufficient, we can use econometric models or studies with a control group.

If retailer sales data is unavailable, we assess reach and brand impact. For your own online store, we analyse purchases and advertising returns separately.

Clear ways of working

Before we start

Your questions about FMCG advertising

How do you measure results when people buy in supermarkets?

We agree the available data sources before starting. Where sell-out data by region, retailer or product is available, we analyse it alongside prices, promotions, seasonality and distribution. How we assess advertising’s contribution depends on data quality and campaign scale.

What can you measure without retail sales data?

Reach, frequency, audience contact quality and agreed brand measures: awareness, ad recall, brand perceptions and purchase intent. We explain in advance what conclusions those measures can support.

What data do you need from an FMCG brand?

We start with your objectives, audience, product range, sales regions and channels, promotional calendar, creative and previous campaign results. To assess sales impact, we separately agree which data and time period are needed.

How do you plan a new product launch?

We clarify the product’s role in your range, benefits, audience and availability. We plan campaign phases, advertising formats, message tests and KPIs. Media timing aligns with the product reaching retailers.

Can you work with our creative agency?

Yes. We can use existing assets and adapt them to advertising formats. We agree team roles, approval processes and responsibilities for creative production and testing.

Can video advertising work for FMCG products?

Yes. Video can explain product benefits, demonstrate usage and build brand awareness. We select suitable YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other formats, with video production and adaptation costs included in the cost breakdown.

What does Brand Awareness Research include?

We measure awareness, brand perceptions, purchase intent and other agreed indicators. UAMASTER clients receive the research at no separate charge. We agree methodology, sample and stages before starting. Advertising platform research tools depend on their availability and requirements.

What budget does FMCG marketing need?

The budget depends on the objective, category, markets, reach, duration and measurement approach. Proposals separate media spend, agency fees and creative production. Share your objectives and budget expectations, and we will recommend a plan that accounts for them.

How soon can we assess campaign effectiveness?

We analyse reach and other advertising measures once sufficient data has accumulated. Assessing changes in awareness or sales requires an agreed methodology and observation period. We set the timeframe before launch, accounting for purchase cycles and seasonality.

Can we commission a single service?

Yes. You can start with strategy, an advertising campaign, an analytics audit or research. We can bring in additional specialists as needed. We agree scope, responsibilities and costs with you.

How do you account for promotions and product availability?

Before launch, we confirm which products to promote, where they are sold and what promotions are planned. We align advertising regions and timing with distribution. We adjust campaigns if products are unavailable or promotional terms change.
